Marie was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 1992. She completed a Master of Laws Degree at Sydney University in 1999, at the same time serving as a Local Government Councillor on Hunters Hill Council and raising a young family.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Marie, who was born in Ireland, had a career in nursing. She initially trained and worked in the major teaching hospitals in London and Oxfordshire. She subsequently qualified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and worked in the two leading public and private hospitals in Sydney, Royal North Shore Hospital and St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, rising to the position second-in-charge of the Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincent’s Private. During this time she also obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Marie practises in all areas of Family Law and De Facto Law and has a particular interest in children’s matters. She has recently completed a second Masters Degree this time in Applied Family Law at the College of Law, Sydney.
Marie’s extensive knowledge of Family and De Facto Law and broad general experience enables her to provide her clients with sound, practical legal advice, tailored specifically to their needs. At the same time, Marie is very mindful of the difficulties facing clients at the time of a breakdown in a relationship and is committed to ensuring her clients’ are treated with empathy and their problems are dealt with in a professional, timely, efficient and cost effective manner.
